The Senior Health Communication Specialist II will work on a team providing communication support to CDC’s National Center for Health Statistics (https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/index.htm). As part of the content development team, the Sr Health Communication Specialist II will use an array of skills to develop communication products and tools; coordinate, review and edit content; and support content reviews in the Digital First Editor (DFE).
Responsibilities include:
- Revise NCHS content and create new content for the NCHS website to support organization and promotion of data and features
- Proofread, edit and improve health communication content for NCHS website and digital communication channels
- Support the content editing and review in the Digital First Editor (DFE)
- Help provide user-focused recommendations about content organization and style
- Support NCHS representatives with managing and curating all NCHS content; applying usability, user experience, user interface expertise to optimize content; and making and implementing recommendations based on web metrics
- Attend internal customer meetings to stay abreast of the latest Digital Modernization Efforts developments
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience implementing digital strategies and developing web content
- Knowledge of and experience working in public health or health-related field
- Experience with the Digital First Editor (DFE)
- Excellent communication (oral and written)
- Outstanding organizational and planning abilities
- BS degree in public health/related field AND 7+ years of experience, master’s degree preferred
- Experience supporting communication projects for US Government clients and past experience working on communication projects for CDC is a major plus but not required
