POSITION TITLE:   Business Development Manager

COMPENSATION: Competitive salary + bonus + DOE

SUMMARY: The successful candidate will be responsible for interacting with existing customers and manufacturers with a major focus on developing new customer relationships in the assigned territory.

DUTIES OR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead companies in obtaining better brand recognition amongst their client base and stake hold upcoming and future projects for the entire client’s company along with developing new relationships and sales opportunities in the assigned territory
  • This role includes acting as a technical resource to engineers, contractors and facility personnel in the operation of and specification of related fire protection systems and emergency response equipment
  • The successful candidate will be required with the assistance of the company team to provide technical expertise and application of technical principles, theories and concepts in the fire protection and emergency response fields
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for all direct sales in his/her assigned end user territory which includes developing or reviewing all proposals, as well as performing or assisting on all consulting and design efforts under the guidance of the regional manager
  • To facilitate the development of the successful candidate in the company, the candidate will be required to complete a mentoring program administered by the regional manager. The mentoring program will allow the successful candidate to develop a detailed knowledge of company operations, all necessary skills to perform their function as a Business Development Manager and allow appropriate time to get acquainted with existing customers and manufacturer’s representatives in their assigned territory
  • This position will require the successful candidate to perform field work which involves visiting Oil & Gas and Energy related facilities to perform customer visits, consulting, pre-installation reviews, final installation reviews, audits, as well as other services
  • Attending peer-related committee meetings and other association meetings that are relevant to the successful candidate’s job function will be required


EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10+ years’ experience in engineered sales along with a background in using engineering principles and their application in industrial facilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology recommended
  • Experience of NFPA and API codes and standards is required since frequent use and application of these codes and standards as well as their principles, theories and concepts are required
  • Knowledge of developing and negotiating contracts and integrating contract requirements with the sales opportunity is required.
  • Knowledge of marketing strategies to assist in brand recognition that affects financial growth is required
  • Exceptional project opportunities and tracking skills are required along with good organizational skills
  • Critical communication skills that allow the candidate to effectively communicate and connect with their audience
  • 5% or less overnight or out of town travel required
