Membership Manager
Salary: $75,000 + benefits
The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce is a borough-wide membership and economic development organization dedicated to helping businesses through four channels: promotion, support, advocacy, and convening. The Brooklyn Chamber and its affiliate organizations, the Brooklyn Alliance, and Brooklyn Alliance Capital, provides direct business services, technical assistance, and support programs to help Brooklyn businesses grow. Reporting to the Vice President, Membership & Events, the Membership Manager is an integral part of the Brooklyn Chamber team, supporting excellence in membership and events administration.
Responsibilities
Membership Management (Acquisition & Retention)
- Promote membership benefits to prospective Members, recruit and enroll new Members.
- Develop and implement membership acquisition and retention strategies.
- Interact with Members, prospects, and sponsors to drive membership and event revenues.
- Run New Member Orientations, regular sessions that review benefits and services.
Database Management
- Maintain accurate membership records (via Zoho CRM) and troubleshoot member issues as needed.
- Oversee the maintenance of the membership database.
- Work with iWise, our IT partner, in designing our customized CRM and integrated Brooklyn Marketplace (associated digital platform).
- Assist members with accessing digital tools provided through the Brooklyn Marketplace and Brooklyn App.
Volunteer Management
- Manage the Ambassador Committee, a group of Chamber Member volunteers that meets regularly to assist with membership activities.
Event Support
- Assist with various tasks at Brooklyn Chamber events, which will include early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends.
Miscellaneous
- Work on special projects as directed by the VP, Membership & Events and by the President & CEO.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills, detail oriented
- Strong verbal and written communications skills; ability to effectively communicate with prospects, Members, and co-workers
- Previous sales experience preferred and demonstrable ability to drive results
- Independent problem solver
- Excellent computer skills
- Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Exceptional ability to interact tactfully and enthusiastically with Members, sponsors, and partners
- Some public speaking experience preferred
- Must be a team player that works well in an adapting environment
- Team player that will assist when needed outside the normal scope of responsibilities
Qualifications
- Two years in prior membership position, Chamber or trade association experience preferred.
- Education or Experience: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience preferred. College degree or equivalent in business administration, management or other business field strongly preferred.
Salary
