LOCATION: Houston, TX

SUMMARY: Use technical knowledge and experience to provide the company with complete, accurate and competitive estimates as required to drive success through customer attainment.

DUTIES OR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Interpret and explain plans, drawings, and specifications.
  • Study job specifications to determine appropriate construction methods.
  • Evaluate construction methods and determine cost-effectiveness of plans.
  • Coordinate the work of the estimating team.
  • Maintain standards and resources for quantity takeoff and discipline estimating services.
  • Assist the Profit Center Manager(s) with analysis of projects, comparison of estimates, and compilation of information.
  • Help fulfill commitments related to the estimate, RFP, RFQ, RFB or any pricing request.
  • Ensure standards, policies and procedures are used for estimating.
  • Prepare and submit budget estimates.
  • Participate in regular estimating training.
  • Develop quality standards and monitor compliance through all phases of quantity take off and estimating processes in coordination with the operations, quality, and finance departments.
  • Organize information into a coherent, meaningful format.
  • Facilitate and promote a team concept where estimating provides resources and expertise in a structured format.
  • Facilitate internal bid reviews and prepare all documentation required for such.
  • Work within company policy as outlined in the employee handbook and in complement with the Human Resources Policy Manual, Safety Manual and OSHA Safety rules.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within reasonable expectations.


EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5 to 10 years of formal industrial estimating experience including EPC estimates (or relevant field experience on industrial projects) using current units of construction costs.
  • Experience estimating for variable field conditions under which work is performed.
  • Industrial process piping takeoff and estimating experience from P&ID’s and general layout drawings.
  • Preferred Refractory, Insulation, Mechanical, Civil, Coatings experience.
