Job Description:  

COMPANY PROFILE: A north Brooklyn outdoor space designed for dog boarding and daycare of guest pets as well. They also run playgroups throughout the day for pets to create a stress-reducing program of rest and activity for dogs.

POSITION SUMMARY: This business is  responsible for the health, happiness and safety of our clients pets when they are guest at our location. Kennel Hands develop and maintain a positive work environment and culture through positive communication with fellow team mates. Kennel Hands are the hands-on advocates for the animals left in our care. It is a fun and fast environment with many moving pieces. This position is for someone who is a quick learner and takes constructive criticism well. It requires a team player that has initiative and common sense. They are looking for a closer (1 pm - 8 pm) and a weekend person (9:45 am - 6 pm). Both part time and full time positions are available.  There is room for upward mobility.

Must have some kind of customer service experience!



Required Skills:  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Portraying a positive company image and engaging in professional and friendly
  • communications with team members and clients
  • Actively listening to team members'' questions and concerns to build a positive work
  • culture of support and team work, assisting the team to care for the animals to the best
  • of our abilities
  • Following written, posted and oral instructions on our guests'' needs
  • Actively participating in our guests'' care by respectfully communicating through Slack
  • posts and face-to-face interactions
  • Establishing and maintaining notes through Slack on guest behavior, special needs, care
  • instructions, feeding requirements, bathroom habits, medication (when required),
  • Snout-to-Tail assessments and overall suggestions
  • Supervising safe and happy playgroups for pets
  • Maintenance of all equipment and supplies
  • Following and performing all SOPs
  • Continuing to learn and grow your understanding of Ethology
  • Maintain Woofs ''n Whiskers Values
  • Performing other duties as assigned
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Preferably no animal allergies
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; and reach for animals
  • Maintaining a clean work environment, ensuring a healthy and safe space for everyone (animals and people!) including: yard, kennel, kitchen, grooming room, caFery, reception, bathroom, front of the building, van, storage spaces this entails cleaning feces, urine, vomitus, blood, mucus of pets

Employees will be required to follow any other job-related instructions and to perform any other job-related duties requested by any person authorized to give instructions or assignments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

  • Weekend and holiday availability are mandatory
  • Ability to shift priorities, deal with a high-stress environment and multi-task
  • Ability to work in a team environment and take direction from management
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals, work instructions, software manuals; ability to write routine reports/post
  • Ideally 2 years of experience but willing  to negotiate for the right applicant with less experience
