COMPANY OVERVIEW:  Our client is an international presence by providing complete door-to-door services up to and including final erection of heavy and extra-heavy project components world-wide, including the industry of modularized items.

LOCATION:  Southeast Houston, Texas

SUMMARY:  The ideal candidate will have experience as an accountant / controller in the construction industry in the US (preferably in a senior role). The Financial Controller shall work in our Houston office, for the US corporation and its subsidiaries in Mexico and Canada.

DUTIES OR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Managing all operations in the accounting department, including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledgers, cost accounting, revenue recognition and inventory accounting
  • Coordinating and directing budgetary and financial forecasts both P&L and Balance sheet
  • Coordinating regulatory reporting
  • Preparing and publishing monthly management financial statements and cashflow projections
  • Researching technical accounting issues for compliance.
  • Managing of auditors and compliance with management accounting policies
  • Ensuring quality control for financial reporting and transactions
  • Managing and complying with reporting requirements and tax filings for local, state and federal government
  • Developing and documenting accounting policies and business processes to strengthen internal controls and improve reporting
  • Guiding financial decisions by applying company policies and procedures to current economic landscape
  • Helping develop and support short- and long-term operational strategies
  • Oversee and support accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity


EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum requirement: a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration or another closely related field.
  • Preferred: Professional certification, such as CPA (certified public accountant) or CA (chartered accountant).
  • Experience
  • Five or more years of professional accounting experience and controlling with documented history of financial project management.
  • Skills
  • In-depth understanding of accounting, financial data analysis and business concepts. Soft skills to motivate a team of 3 individuals in the US and one in Mexico.
  • Organization, math, attention to detail, written and verbal communication (in English, preferred if also in Spanish) interpersonal, ability to work in a multi-cultural environment, self-motivated, Problem-solving, Financial reporting, Reliability, proficiency with Information technology and accounting software (Microsoft Navision preferred). Availability to travel internationally
