LOCATION: La Porte, Texas
SUMMARY: The Construction Project Director is responsible for the organization, planning, and supervision of all activities for the project. Project meets the engineering plans and specifications, and the work is accomplished within budget and on schedule. They directly supervise safety, quality assurance, quality control, administrative, engineering and mechanical craft superintendents on the project.
DUTIES OR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages multiple large capital projects in heavy construction mechanical, electrical, industrial, utility, petrochemical and oil and gas
- Manages multiple projects including resource planning and scheduling, construction means and methods, marketing, negotiations, quality, productivity contracts and job costs and controls
- Lead by example to foster and maintain a strong safety and health focused culture throughout all operations
- Actively mentor and develop others by providing constructive feedback and praise on the observed behaviors
- Support the Operational Management Team to achieve best performance and attainment of business strategic goals
- Ensure adequate personnel resources are in place and their skills and competencies are effectively leveraged
- Expect a strong performance-based culture and contribute to performance reviews and people staffing decisions within the company.
- Ensure compensation rewards are fair and equitable and directly tied to performance
- Build a team culture throughout the company and between other business units, and departments
- Direct the execution following the established standard operating procedures and protocols of the company
- Aid the team in analyzing and resolving problems that arise within project execution, including negotiations with clients as needed
- Review all project financials to ensure the financial targets are met
- Foster and maintain a culture of continuous improvement. Expect lessons learned, best practices, and operational excellence each day
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- 7 years project management experience in the Industrial Construction Industry or related field doing similar type work
- Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction management principles (technology, equipment, methods) and industry specific challenges
- Project Controls experience is required
- Experience managing capital mechanical construction projects up to $250MM is required
